USING QUIET
Terms of service
Last updated:
These terms govern the Quiet app and website, operated by Shogun Dot Dev (Pty) Ltd, South Africa.
1. Your agreement
By installing or using Quiet, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service. You must have legal capacity to agree or the permission and assistance of a parent or guardian where required. If you use Quiet for an organisation, you must have authority to act for it.
The Privacy policy explains information handling. It is a notice, not blanket consent to optional data processing. Other Shogun tools and third-party platforms may have separate terms for their services.
2. What Quiet does
Quiet provides Android call management using your schedules, trusted people, personal blocks and repeat-caller choices. It needs to be the default Phone app to apply its call rules and show ringing and connected call screens, including calls started in another app. Separate caller ID compatibility depends on Android, your device and the other app.
Call delivery and audible ringing are not guaranteed. Android settings, silent mode, Do Not Disturb, battery restrictions, permissions, mobile networks and device behaviour can affect calls. An allowed call may still be silent; a repeat caller is not proof of an emergency. Check your settings and test important calling arrangements.
Quiet is not an emergency response or safety monitoring service. Do not rely on its filtering or alerts for emergency communication. Use the appropriate emergency services and your device's emergency-calling facilities when needed.
3. Permission to use the app
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive permission to install and use Quiet on devices you are authorised to manage, subject to these terms. Quiet's branding, artwork and software remain the property of their respective owners. Open-source components remain governed by their applicable licences; these terms do not remove rights those licences or the law give you.
Use Quiet lawfully. Do not misuse another person's account, bypass access controls, distribute malware, interfere with shared services, or use Quiet to harass others. Do not submit information about other people without an appropriate basis. Nothing here prohibits lawful security research or rights that applicable law does not permit us to restrict.
4. Shared accounts
Local call rules can be used without an account. Optional account features use the same Shogun Dot Dev identity as other tools connected to that service. Keep your account information accurate and your password and email access secure. Tell us if you suspect unauthorised access.
Changing the shared password affects sign-in to other tools. Deleting the shared account removes account access across all Shogun Dot Dev tools using it. Deletion requires a confirmation code sent by email and a final confirmation. Read Delete account before proceeding. Local Quiet data and separate product, billing or audit records are handled as described there.
5. Free features, Pro and availability
Schedules, allowlists, repeat-caller exceptions, personal blocks and call controls remain free. Pro is our supporter tier: it helps fund Quiet and adds only non-core convenience and personalization extras. Both Quiet Pro Monthly and Pro Once-off include ad-free use, encrypted backup and transfer, calendar-aware quiet periods, appearance packs and your own caller background photo. Caller photos are kept only on the phone where you select them and can appear on the lock screen. Pro requires a verified Shogun Dot Dev account using the email associated with the purchase and a supported app version. Quiet is available through Google Play, subject to device and country availability. Install the app and complete its calling setup before purchasing Pro. A Pro purchase does not change device compatibility or grant Android permissions.
Polar handles website purchases. The Google Play version of Quiet offers purchases through Google Play when plans are available; Google displays the local price, billing period and final total before you pay. Store prices may differ from website prices. Both providers unlock the same listed Pro features on your Shogun account. Pro Monthly is R19.99 per month (ZAR) and renews automatically until cancelled. Pro Once-off is R199.99 (ZAR), paid once, with no recurring subscription. Polar shows any applicable taxes and the final total before you confirm payment. The checkout terms and price shown at purchase apply to that transaction. No charge is created by reading these terms.
Manage or cancel a monthly subscription with the provider you paid: Google Play subscriptions for Google purchases, or your Polar purchase email/customer portal for website purchases. Sign in to the same Shogun account to restore access. A pending payment does not activate Pro until the provider confirms it. Cancellation stops future renewal; access continues through the paid period. Uninstalling Quiet does not cancel a subscription. Refunds and revoked purchases may remove Pro access. Contact [email protected] with your purchase reference for billing or refund help; do not send card details. Any mandatory consumer or store refund rights remain unaffected.
Quiet verifies paid access online and can retain verified access for up to 24 hours offline, limited by the paid period. When Pro access ends, Pro settings remain saved but stop applying; free call rules remain available. Once-off covers the listed Pro features while the service is operated and supported; it does not promise perpetual service operation or delivery of unannounced features.
Install and update Quiet through Google Play. This website does not distribute APK downloads.
6. Service changes and account restrictions
We may update Quiet, change or discontinue features, and carry out maintenance. We may restrict shared-service access where reasonably necessary to address abuse, security threats, legal requirements or a material breach of these terms. Where appropriate, we will explain the restriction and provide an opportunity to resolve it. Contact support if you believe a restriction is mistaken.
Stop using Quiet at any time by choosing another default Phone app and uninstalling it. Uninstalling does not delete your shared account. Device compatibility and update availability are shown in Google Play. Call behaviour can differ between Android devices and mobile networks.
7. Responsibility and your legal rights
We aim to provide a useful service, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, error-free operation or that every unwanted call will be stopped. You remain responsible for the rules you choose, permissions you grant and how you respond to calls.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Quiet is provided as available without additional warranties beyond those expressly stated. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer protections. These terms do not require you to waive such rights.
8. Changes, law and contact
We may revise these terms and update the date above. Material changes will be communicated through the website, app or another appropriate channel before they apply where required. If a change requires your agreement under applicable law, we will obtain it.
South African law governs these terms, subject to mandatory protections that apply where you live. Disputes may be brought before a court with lawful jurisdiction; this does not remove a right to use a local court or regulator where the law grants it. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
